Here's another one from Wiruna last new moon week-end taken on that saturday night with a SMC Pentax -M 200mm lens full aperture and QHY8 - 21x2min.

There's a bigger one here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/NGC3372_200mm_f.jpg) [2.5MB]
I finally received a 2" Baader fringe killer and all my steup rings from 52mm to 42mm so I now have everything I need for the next new moon to get rid of bloating and funky colors.

Hopefully I'll get better results from now on with the stars. :)

I like it Marc but as you point out the stars dominate the look of the image too much.

Have you tried various star reduction techniques to reduce them?
(deconvolution, select stars out and curves reduction, minimum filter, Noel Carboni action?)

Greg.

Yep. It's got a slight deconv and I did reduce the stars and enhanced the neb a bit with the carboni action set. It's just that there are a lot of stars in this part of the sky. I'd have to run the 'Fred' action to get rid of them all ;)

mmm, where would I start with that :P :D. Dust and scratch filter?, healing brush?, eraser?.

Thats a wide feild image Marc, thats what it is alright .

Getting "funky" with those stars eh!

You're really giving that 200mm lense a run for its money. Excellant images Marc! I'm just waiting for a gap in the never ending winter cloud that has struck WA recently to get my 200mm out.

Thanks Darrin. Mate I've shot so much that night I'm barely getting to the end of processing it all. I have another panel on M16/17 then that should be it. :P Hope you get some clear skies your way soon.

Hi Marc,

You must have covered half the sky that Saturday night at Wiruna!

I really like this photo. The colours are great and the FOV is perfect for the subject. I like all the stars with their colours, they give the photo depth and realism.

Thanks.

Ross.
