It's 1 Neptunian year since Neptune was discovered on 23rd September 1846, so it has returned to the same point in its orbit it for the first time since it was discovered.
A couple of images taken tonight of Neptune, using a Canon EOS 550D and a 12" Sky-Watcher Goto Dobsonian.
The first photo is uncropped at prime focus with dimensions 0.5x0.75 degrees. The brightest star at bottom left is the 5.4 magnitude star 38 Aquarii. Neptune is at magnitude 7.95 and Triton is magnitude 13.7.
Thanks for looking,
Tom
