Whoa - 5 mins to spare. Phew.
Thanks Molly!
I'll watch it with you Molly. :D
The final Shuttle docking successfully completed at approx. 01:07 AEST 11 July 2011
took place whilst the spacecraft were overhead east of Christchurch, New Zealand.
Wow, that's the first time I've seen the shuttle dock with the ISS :eyepop: and the last. :(:( A high and a low at the same time. The view is stunning - just incredible watching it move across Earth and the detail of the shuttle and ISS, wow. You can make out all the itty bitty bits and wires and bolts on those things. Seeing pics of the docking is one thing, seeing it live is something else.
If you hadn't posted this I would have missed my chance of seeing this momentous event, so thank you so much Molly.:)
Why does it take two hours from docking to open the hatch?
Well, that was the 37th and last space shuttle mission to the IIS.
Wasn't it sad when they docked and you heard the commader say it was docking for the last time...
Just finished watching the meet and greet. Boy did I feel like a fly on the wall, that was so much fun. :D
They were taking lots of photos to mark the historic event.
My eye lids are heavy, so I'm off to the land of nod now. :zzz2:
