I'm Back!!!!!!

Hi all, well I have returned from Coober Pedy, after a nine hour drive, back safe and sound.

Did not take my scope and kind of glad that I didn't. The town itself has a problem with lighting. Every street light is emitting pollution into the upper atmosphere. Not real good. However, out of town about 20 km is nice and dark.

While I was there I did pick up some lovely opal, bought some good quality stuff and this will only go up in value over the years.

Anyway this is to say I am officially back and I can see that there is lots of threads that I want to contribute to.

Just watched an ABC special on Cooper Pedy,more "characters" per square meter, that most places in Aus.
I am fighting the light pollution battle up here too !
Fortunatly I am well placed to do something about it !
Our club is a member of the international dark sky Association.
Something I urge all Astronomy clubs to do.
