Hi all,

Went outside and saw this remarkable colouring around the moon, so quickly grabbed camera and shot off three shots before the colour had disappeared. I combined the three images (different exposures) to create this...

I'm South of Adelaide (and you), and saw similar - I believe the phenomenon is caused by high altitude ice crystals, but I stand to be corrected by more knowledgable folk....!

The colours are very well captured. I take it that's Saturn near the bottom and Spica at the right?

I believe it's called a Lunar Corona
