An team of astronomers using the CSIRO Parkes radio telescope in eastern
Australia has found a new kind of cosmic object - small, compressed
'neutron stars' that show no activity most of the time but once in a while
spit out a single burst of radio waves.

Thanks Sonia, these things are a real mystery as to how they only pulse intermittently in the radio band. It would be interesting to do an optical follow up to see if their visible light output also flickers in the same fashion, like other pulsars.
