Astronomers, using the unique capabilities offered by the high-resolution
spectrograph on European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope, have
found a metal-rich hydrogen cloud in the distant universe. The result may
help to solve the missing metal problem and provides insight on how
galaxies form.

Thanks for the link Sonia.

Radio astronomy is also very good at seeing "invisible" galaxies, and can see behind the bright glow of the disk of the Milky Way, where visible or IR light astronomy has no hope. Parkes is still discovering new galaxies, despite being around 50 y.o.

SKA for Oz! :jump2:
