SPX350, ATK-16HR, Astrodon filters.
This galaxy was very bright in appearance and 5min L subs burnt out the core. It is only 40,000lyrs in diameter and 14.7mil lyrs away and shows lovely structure. Ha added to the red channel to enhance a little.
L HaRGB - 105 120 40 30 40mins in 5/10min subs.
Thanks, John.

Nice John. Is this a crop? It looks like it is a crop.

Nice detail in the dust lanes, color is lovely too, stars just a little crunchy, perhaps mask them when doing some of the processing.
Have you posted a pic of your gear, would love to have a look at your setup.

That's a nice M83 you took there. Its upside down compared to the usual presentation.
You got some nice colour and detail there.

Great result John, the Ha was a good idea to just lift those HII regions a little. It's the M51 of the south

Thanks guys, the image is resized to 1000 pixels and cropped to tidy overlaps as the 285 sensor is quite small but good for hi-res galaxies and planetaries.
My stars are always trouble as if collimation is off a touch stars can be odd on one edge and getting them not too soft and not too sharp, Ha was taken on a windy night so had to sharpen and layer subtly.
Keep forgetting to vertical flip the image.
Thanks for comments and suggestions.
John.

John
I had never heard of an SPX350 before, and came across your profile when I googled it: http://www.orionoptics.co.uk/user%20astropics/userastropics3.html
Looks like a very versatile scope - given your planetary and deep sky pics! Nice.

Ah yes, that's what a real telescope should look like
Reminds me of the glossy B&W Meade ad all those years ago for the DS16...I dreamed about that ad every night....:)
