Very nice Paul. Looks like this setup will serve you very well. Fast scopes are a treat to use but UI am interested to know how it went from a focusing perspective. My FSQ at f5 requiures a lot of work to get focus just right and hold it there.
Great start with your new scope.

Thanks Doug! Yes, you are right! focusing was totally different to my f5 newt. It requires a lot more attention and seems to be a lot more temperature affected. I used a mask and had to focus twice during the session. But, I have a secondary dew heater so once I heated it up I turned down the heating a bit and it kept the temerature stable so I didnt have to refocus.
What really threw me though was my filter wheel! Half way through the imaging run a softward glitch made my filter wheel program restart. It threw out the sequence of the filters! I didnt realise until I processed the image and kept getting a green nebula! I reversed the LRGB combination and it came back to normal! So what was red was actually green!
i think its all worth it though as a faster scope makes it easier to get detail in a shorter time (allowing time to compensate for when things go wrong!)

Nice catch Paul,
I don't seem to get enough of the Trifid, nice and sharp with vibrant colours.

Hi Paul,
What a great photo.
I love the detail and the colours.
All the more impressive knowing the problems you had on Saturday night.
It was a pleasure to have met you.
Thanks.
Ross.

That is a great photo Paul. Love how the nebula has detail and that true gaseous look. Gotta love F4 for imaging. Look forward to seeing more!
