This picture was taken By Malcolm Cerfonteyn at the Cederberg Observatory, Sunday 26 June at 06:00 hrs.

The moon had just risen and was enough to light up the western horizon features and Sneeuberg (Snow Mountain), with a dusting of snow, but not too bright to overwhelm the Milky Way in this Dslr 30sec exposure.

(Malcolm is a part owner of the Cederbeg Observatory).

This is soo coool! The foreground mountain gives a whole new scale to the milky way in the back not unlike when the moon appears huge next to the horizon line. There is a huge sense of 3D depth and distance. Inspirational.
