Well I think I have finally come up with something that is similar to images I have seen on the web of this object in the Hubble Palette.

I combined (SII*3) and HA to give me my RED channel
then combined HA and (OIII*3) to give me my GREEN channel
and finally (OIII*3) gave me BLUE

Thanks for all the advise guys

Thanks for Looking!

Another well done one. Awesome. This one flipped too, though?

Now that is the ticket. Lovely repros. More pleasing palette. Lovely work.

Thanks, yes it is flipped. For some reason every time I open a fit files it flips it for some reason. I should have remembered that it does that but this time I forgot, ooops!

Thanks Marc,
It paid off to do the research.

Very nice images well done, I recently started doing narrowband and was disappointed with Ha mapped to green as the image was overwhelmed with green. You have blended S2 and Ha for red is this a 50/50 mix or do you use a different ratio.
Clear skies Ken.

Thanks Ken,

I used a multiplier of 3 on the S2 and then just added that to the HA channel.
Played with few multipliers before I got the right results. It all really depends on the subs you already have and what background value they have.
I even tried multiplying HA slightly.

So all in all its very tedious work. Next time I will know to do longer subs on the S2 and OIII, probably 600s instead of 300.

Hope that helps.

Mark

That's an image to be proud of for sure even though I'm not convinced about your choice of colour palette.

Cheers

Thanks Mark for the reply I guess I was not prepared for how weak the S2 and O3 channels were after doing RGB images.
Clear skies Ken.

These blues and oranges look very contrasty indeed.

I don't really like narrow band images but this looks really good

A much better result Mark but it would be nice to bring out the reds more. You're on the right track.

Did you try Ha as green, S11 x 8 as red and O111 x 4 as blue?

You can then also use curves on red and blue to adjust the balance.

Once you have the formula you're set, that's most of the work in NB getting that formula right.

Greg.

Wow, they really have come up a treat Mark. Nicely done!
As I've only done limited Ha imaging, I'm at loss at the process of narrowband processing, but whatever your doing, keep doing it!!!!!

Thanks Greg,

No not yet, but now that I have the 3 separate RAW channels processed, its now easier to try different variations and multipliers.
The hard part is finding the time to do it.

Cheers Darren,
Its certainly a new learning curve for me, but I will keep at it.

Great detail and sharpness Mark.

The colours make the photo jump out of the screen..so 3D.

Thanks.

Ross.
