Lagoon and Trifid in Narrowband Tri Colour

Hi All,

Quite a few clear nights in a row has given me the opportunity to gather OIII and SII data.
I have combined HA,OIII,SII (RGB), 2.5 Hours exposures in each channel.

Only new to this NB Tri-Colour stuff so I wasn't sure what to expect, so comments are appreciated.
I know you can mix and match these three to produce quite a few variations, but so far I have only played with the above.

Some excellent data there Mark and what a field :eyepop:

The colour pallet one settles on in this dark art is mostly a matter of taste and is also heavily influenced by what people are "used" to seeing and this results in conformity. A more Green/yellow/blue combo is more traditional but if we saw enough of the colour pallet you have displayed we would mostly notice the amazing field, intricate details and dot like stars :D

Agree with Mike. For me I don't like the range of colours that one can produced. I do like the orange, red and blue style that I have seen from both hubble and various imagers here. I guess you will find the one you like and the one everyone else likes too. Keep the repro's coming.:thumbsup:

A very highly resolved image. Colour is always subjective however there is a broad stream of agreement on it.

I think the Hubble palette is the one most accepted generally being not too far away from normal RGB in its form.

If you do that type the O111 and S11 need to be boosted as Ha will overwhelm easily making it tricky to get any mustards and reds. So boost them up hard. The blues of O111 are often very nice and even better if you can get the lovely teal that goes with O111 (half blue half green).

Nice work Mark.... gotta love the optics on the Q's.... super tight stars!

This palette is not my 'cuppa'..... but hey, that's the beauty of narrow band, it's all personal choice and artistic license...
I'll admit it emits a totally different perspective and ascetics that I have not seen in other bands and palette choices.

NB is not for everyone, even I wasn't drawn to it at first but it allows for artistic freedom I guess and brings out the finer detail.

2 fantastic shots. I love the colour the Paw has turned out. Nicely shows the difference in brightness and consitution of the 2 as well.

Yeh the new pallet looks better, the overall field and the detail still make it IMO, overall a great shot :thumbsup:
