Seeing 6 or 7/10

Got one at 4:16am in 5fps raw mode, another 5fps raw at 5:17am after a large cloud bank had gone and a 10fps optimized colour at 5:22.

Seeing got worse after the cloud bank.

My best GRS, and i need to ne process the different colour channels.

By the way, earlier in the night had a go a saturn, but the mirror still had tube currents for the 3 odd degree difference. Imaged with the large fan on the butt of the scope and i reckon tube currents were effectively nil, Very noticeable difference! All i was left with was the atmospheric effects.

by the way if you mouse over the images, they have the stack qty, and wavelet settings, as i make use of the image info in registax

funny tho, they are no where near the one in your avatar. was the seeing exceptional then or has your processing changed?

avatar from memory was 8.5/10 from the 5th feb, the 15th of feb was around 9/10. (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=9535&d=1139957658)

these ones are 6 or 7 /10, still ok enough to keep the image scale, but as soon as it gets like jelly (3 or 4 out of 10) i have to 1/2 the image scale and then after that don't bother!!!

Also keep in mind they are simply results from registax, no finishing touches. They of course will not have the fineness of the great seeing conditions from the other nights!

Fine couple of shots DP:) , you can see the detail is there to be extracted (esp. around GRS) with a bit more processing - right now though they appear a little "dark" to my eyes

spot on rob, i think the optimized colour 900 framer will be the one to push harder. i gave the gain and gamma a fairly hefty go.

1/50 exposure, 50% gamma, 50% gain

I had a similar experience viewing Saturn in medium-good seeing. I have a fan mounted on a plywood disk sealing against the rear of the mirror cell and saw no degradation of the view with fan running .
