Plato, taken with a C8 SCT + red filter + DMK. I aways have a problem with scale with these Moon photos, so just for fun I have overlayed a map to show the approximate scale of the photo. It makes Plato a tad smaller than it actually is (50 v 60 miles dia) but its interesting to see how big some of these features really are.

That is a nice image of this iconic crater. I like the way you have shown the scale of these lunar features by using the map overlay – my home town of Bolton is well represented!

Good idea Graham, but I think most of us have no idea about distances in the UK either!

A great image and now I know why I chose the University of Central Lancashire to do an Astronomy course... just look where Preston is!! :D
