its every nightmare that you could imaging - intermittent fog, smoke, light pollution from far and wide, a layered atmosphere of crud and next door neighbours from hell. its not pretty and it will win no malin's but i did it, its mine, i got the bugger. slightly cropped due to the fog (lost the guide star then reacquired it) and slightly eggy stars due i think to a poor choice of guide settings . 4h 10min (lost over 2 hours with other problems of fog.....) iso 800 cooled canon40D through a CLS filter in a 127ED.... i give you the Frankenstein Helix......:question::help:

Hi Dave
That is a good result considering that all the elements conspired against you!:)
You should have stacked the odds more in your favour and gone after something nice and bright…like the Moon.
Cheers

Dave,
It's got some nice structure and the outer ring is showing. Not bad considering the challenges you are having to deal with.

Hey not bad Dave. A difficult object.
You did well, especially under trying circumstances.
Greg.

Can't see no bolts sticking out of it:):P
Nice shot, considering the circumstances.

Came out great. Showing the outer ring shows it is pretty deep.

:rofl::lol:.. Great build up to the night from hell David... you should write novels!
Man what a night and I reckon you did a great job considering.
For what it's worth, you might have to start bribing your neighbours.. if they're drinkers slip em a six pack, if they're big drinkers go for a slab, with a comment like, would be it ok if you leave your outside lights off tonight?? please.. :prey:
When all else fails, might be cheaper to hire a hit man :D.
Hope your night time experiences improve!

Neighbours..... Every astronomer Ends up getting those ones, like moths to a flame, it seems they want to help you see your way around in the dark..... As if.

Now now... what's wrong with that shot? Looks pretty good from here. You're getting hormonal like the big man? Don't tell me it's airborne now... :eyepop: As long as the wind blows North I'll be safe :P
