heres around 3.8 hours on the IC879 area.
23x 10 mins, including meridian flip.
Hutech modded 350d full spectrum camera, no filters at all used
10 inch f5.6, MPCC coma corrector, off axis hand guided, temperature around 10 degrees, no wind good seeing up high.

I was keeping one eye on the guide star, another onthe 2 NRL games I watched in a digital TV window on the laptop , so true multitasking :)

Well done Scott - a very nice image! A bit noisy, but you've got the colours, depth and the detail looking good.

Cheers, Marcus

Nice shot....plenty of colour and I like the barred spirals there, especially the big face on one. Heaps of faint fuzzies:)

Excellent Scott, a great galaxy group shot

Quite a bit of outer ring on the galaxy there, nice work

Thanks all. Was great to do a good night of imaging after so much poor weather.

Great shot Scott! a wonderful field,a real shame your camera is not cooled...you must be the last person on the planet hand guiding!kudos to you.

What mount are you using?can It be auto guided?

That is very good with great star colour and structure to galaxies.

John.

Thanks.
I use a 1986 vintage Astro Optical Supplies "Sampson" german Equatorial mount. Sadly no autoguiding possible, it uses a synchronous motor, and a drive corrector that varies the frequency from about 30 hz to 80 hz or so to make it go fast or slow for manual guiding using fast and slow buttons. The scope is the same age too, though its Sutching mirror has a pristine overcoated coating by Issac now.

Thanks for the reply Scott...ah,I remember those mounts! was going to buy one back in the 80's with an Astro Optics 8"newt....I think Mark was grinding mirrors for them back then.

Very nice, it loooks like a great Sutching mirror. I hope you don't mind but I had a play with the noise.

Noise aside this is one really nice image. There are some really interesting galaxies in this image and you have captured them well.

Hand guided work again, exceptional stuff.
