One of the Wattles in the paddock let go and came down this morning. It was probably weakened by the previous days strong winds.
It came down straight on top of my weather station, it was a big wattle so when I saw what had happened I had visions of the station being smashed to pieces.
On closer inspection I was amazed to see that the station had survived completely intact, the tree had a fork in it about two thirds of the way up and the station was sitting happily in the middle of it without even a scratch.
Some days the luck is with you, a couple of inches either way and it would have been curtains for sure.

Just wait til you try to put your OTA on its mount next time - you'll miss and total it.....

No chance of the OTA getting clobbered Jennifer, when the Obs finally gets built it will definitely be in area with a large clearance from the trees. Gums and Wattles have a bad habit of falling over or dropping large limbs when you least expect it.

I have a garden full of natives (a few gums as well)
There's about 120 trees mostly mature (don't tell me I know - trees and telescopes EEEK)
I've spent the last three months taking out the black wattles there's still three big ones and a few small ones.
My chainsaw loves em!

Glad nothing was damaged.... boy you must have stood there scratching your head shaking it side to side in disbelief, I can just picture it. :lol:
I think today is the day to buy that lottery ticket. :question:
Aaargh Black Wattles :mad2:, don't start me off. Those things grow like weeds and just as fast. I am constantly mowing them with the ride-on.
Thankfully it's a fully automated and wireless system Gary, everything is relayed to a base station and them into the computer.
