Though a tad cold, and me being a bit tired and grumpy I decided I needed to make the most of the clear dark skies tonight and spend some time at the scope. I forced myself out into the cold, opened the observatory and started with Saturn and Porimma. Then onto Caldwell 45 in Bootes, the globular delights of Ophuichus and the smorgasboard of Sagittarius. 22 Messier objects later as well as a smattering of NGC's and I finish just staring up at the center of our Milky Way Galaxy and seeing myself looking inward from one of the great spirals' arms looking in awe at the massive star clouds and dust lanes running all the way to Crux. What can I say... Aaaaah, the serenity! I go to bed tired but relaxed, humbled and refreshed from the regaining of perspective that only a night under the stars can do.

Have you taken your dose of serenity lately?

Greg

Sounds like a good night, I had similar last weekend. I tell ya with all this crap weather its so nice to get out and take it all in. I was going out of my mind there for a while with day after day of rain and clouds.

I was outside last night imaging. I turned my scope to m57, looked up and thought, crap, where did those clouds come from.
Then I realised it was the Milky Way shining down on me. :D
Caught me out twice it did. LOL
I need my time outside at night, my cosmic energy fix.

It is a bit sad, my scope has pointed in the right direction (Up) about twice in the last two months! I could do woth a dose.

Sounds good, Greg. In answer to your question, have my fingers crossed for some clear skies over the next few days.
