Inspired by Yuri's image of the Dark Doodad I thought I'd try and nab one of my own. :)
I only have a shortish window to image in that direction (pepper trees) so it's definitely a work in progress.
33x3 min @ iso800,
Canon 550D and ED80
DSS 3.3.3 and CS3

Capturing the image is the easy part, it's the processing that's drives one to distraction. Trying to lighten the back ground to bring out the dark nebula, while NOT burning out the Glob. You can only push it so far before you realise....more data please. oh my poor head, this hobby is doing it in.

Very good photo.
All the tones from dark to light have come out well.
Great processing.

Thanks Rich,
Wanna hear something funny, I'm doing it under Doctors orders.
Fair dinkum. LOL
He highly recommends that I be out with my scope as much as possible for the sake of my mental health.
( dear Dr Tom, he ground his first mirror at Uni, so he understands totally)

Thats a very good effort for a difficult subject. Dark nebula are fascinating but hard to process well.
