View Full Version here: : Help with PEMpro data

I have just spent the evening with my worms.
I got PEMpro the other day as I am going to upgrade my G11 worms shortly and add the one-piece blocks, so I wanted to quantify what my mounts performance was like before the upgrade and after.
Problem is that beyond the easily understandable +/- arcsec measurement, I have no clue what the data is telling me.
Could someone who knows what they are on about please run their eyes over these graphs and tell me what's what?
Thanks
Adam

For a start it looks like you have the wrong mount selected according to the snapshot. It says AP1200. You need to select Gemini Lvl4 from the list then do a couple of runs (8) then take it from there. PEMpro has a very good manual explaining all the parameters and how to interpret the data.

hmmm..I'm pretty sure I selected the right mount in the setup tab....
I wasn't connecting to the mount, and the worm period and image scale looks correct, so I am hoping the data is still applicable?

As far as I know all the software does is record the errors required to autoguide the scope. So if you select the correct mount now it should simply recalculate the correct period for the worm and adjust the graph as it at the moment thinks the worm is repeating its cycle when it is not and the resulting PE curve would be useless.
One tip also. I use Precision PEC by Bisque but it is similar to Pempro. Once you've done a PE curve, use it and watch the guide errors. If they are not better then your curve is off somehow. Most likely it is upside down like mine was - (took me 2-3 months to detect that!).
Greg.
My 2 cents also would be you have the G11 singing already Adam, so be careful you end up at least as well off with the upgrade. The PE is very respectable, and very slowly changing over a long timespan. Most EQ6/Heq5 owners would kill to have something that smooth :)
I hope that is a very smoothed PEC you're showing rather than the actual PE plot or I'm coming over to plunder your house!
This thread started by Peter has an example of my dodgey mount tracking:

The G11 and AP1200 worm periods are not the same (4min-6min), so um.........., did you change the worm period manually?.
