took this saturday night. i am having major issues still with PHD locking up, or the guide camera (dmk21), i lost over 4 hours of data:mad2:

so just a tad over 3 hours worth taken with a rather bright moon nearby, the quick process needs redoing as i have done something in the process that has harmed the stars:question:.

127ed canon 40D cls filter and a cranky ed80 with dmk21 guiding on a g11

processed with DSS,Pixinsight and PS

Not bad. Bit close to the moon to be imaged though. I got some Ha same night in the area and I could see the gradient from moon glow. What was the issue with PHD?

it seems to disconnect the camera while guiding - it locks up

You must have a conflict in your USB connections or driver conflict. Is that the DMK that it drops or the Canon that's imaging?

Then it's probably a problem with the DMK, drivers or hardware. PHD wouldn't cause a disconnection. If the camera drops, PHD will tank but I don't think it's the cause.

You got some nice detail in your Lagoon there.

I had a Starfish guider once that would occassionally freeze.
A revised driver was the fix for that. Best to check you have the latest
drivers for your DMK.

Greg.

I might check on that - do that tonight. the strange thing is that it has been operating fine for 12 months, but now is as flakey as....

thanks Greg - i am still not happy on what i got - the colour isnt right and i have some artifacts i think in the shot with the processing:question: - Maybe i am too critical? need to reference another version to compare i suppose?

I know how you feel. I have a couple of hours on M16/17 and M8/M20 at 200mm FL from Saturday (about 6x4 degrees) and the moon glow is horrid on the top left of the field. I didn't get away with it, even with a 7nm Ha filter. I think because of the moisture in the air at the time too.

Wasn't that radioactive dump on the farside supposed to have exploded 12 years ago and knocked the damned thing out of orbit? Grrr.

Great M8 from suburbia David all things considered.

Ah the Aragnou Nebula :D - bit of detail in ther but rather red..? Then again if it were a narrowband image it could be green :P

Guide issues are the pits

Did you get the flu too
