Well, I have returned from the skin specialist with a few of the sun nasties burnt off. But the adventure only begins. I turned up after fixing a PC for a local business who's whole financial existence almost went down the tubes when the HDD died. I was able to get their financial stuff off (thanks Mr Norton) but only just so grateful were they that I have dinner on them (they area well known restaurant business in Newcastle). Small world you say, yes it is and getting smaller, I delivered it this morning after working on it all night (I had an RDo today from my real work) and who should I see at the restaurant but my Skin specialist, who was making a booking on the way to the surgery. the owner couldn't sing my praises high enough to the fair Doctor. Little did he know that he would be seeing me in 60 minutes time.
I left the Restaurant and went to the surgery, booked in and waited my turn then was ushered into the Doc's room. He was surprise to see me again and joked about it a little, whilst applying the spray of pain to various parts of me. then the unthinkable, one of their PC's went down. How do i know this, the nurse/secretary come storming into the room with a horrified look on her face and all she said was the accountancy PC is down.
Now here is the funny part, the Doc said "if you can fix this then this one is free". Not wishing to part with $105 I thought this was a great offer. I went out had a look at the PC and then asked for a screwdriver. I undid the PC, went to another they had there and undid it, and installed the HDD in it as a slave drive, then booted it up. I was able to retrieve the information and more stuff in the next 30 minutes, then went back to my "consultation". he then thanked me and finished the treatment (have a throbbing head now from burnt bits). Here is the clincher. they as a company have never backed up their data, ever! the computer that went down was more than important it had all their business stuff on it. I now have a after hours job implementing a backup system for him, and replacing the hardware. Best valued sunspot removal ever!!! I get paid!!!!More astro goodies:help3:
