Break in the clouds allowed the capture of a few AVI's of Saturn and the crater Humboldt this morning. Seeing 5/10 (I think?). Played around with 5/10/15 FPS but 10 & 15 FPS worked best. No sign of the storm on Saturn. Enjoy!

p.s. I think my NexImage is showing more grain than usual. I gather exposing the CCD to the sunlight damages the CCD? (dont ask!)

Hi John - Ah I didn't know that sunlight might damage CCD's, had my neximage out waving it about a bit in daylight. I've felt it is getting grainier too, but wasn't sure if it was my imagination.

Anyway nice saturn and that Humbolt is a Humdinger:) ;)

cheers,

Hi Robert,
I left my Neximage "out to dry" due bad dew/moisture.
Unfortunately I left it unattended for a few hours during which time the sun came out, so a few hours of UV treament could not have been good for the CCD.
I dont think simply just exposing it to sunlight should damage it. However, I am sure there are people better qualified to comment on the effect of all of this!

Phew! I should be alright then... though sounds like something I'd do:doh:

Extra grain could be a factor of the temp of the CCD. Love the colour in the last image. :D
