Here's my take on the eclipse over Brisbane. I totally butchered what I had intended to be a timelapse, but managed to salvage this sequence. Over the busy bridge and city skyline, I wanted to make the red Moon stand out. Just to be different, I thought I'd process it this way. Not to everyone's taste, maybe not even to my taste. Not sure.
It was great to catch up with Dennis again and meet the "iceman" Mike. Learned a few tips, had a good chat and a laugh. Very enjoyable.
Also glad I could give new IIS member "dreamdiver" Jen a lift. She's very passionate about the Moon, told me a touching story about her family (in Singapore) and how on full Moons they all look up and even though in different countries, looking at the same beautiful Moon brings them closer together.

I like the processing of that one Troy! Great idea to make the eclipsed Moon stand out.

Hi Troy
That is a nice interpretation. The selective colour and B&W conversion does bring my attention more to the reddish tones in the Moon as the eclipse progressed, with the B&W foreground competing less with the actual focal point of the image, which is the Moon.
The dressing gown was a good idea; I may get a quilted one for astrofest!:)
Cheers
Dennis
Really nice Troy. I like the way your attention is drawn to the changing moon more than the glaring cityscape.
Would have loved to get out and meet everyone and just hang out, but supposed to be sick in bed with nasty sinus infection. Suspect my kit lenses and dodgey tripod may not have been up to the challenge anyway (not the mention the dodgey photographer! ;))

Thanks guys.
Rob - should have come regardless. Always get better later on, but the eclipse is one-off. Well, another in December, but you know what I mean. :) And re the lenses and tripod, they'd be fine for this. There was one guy there using one of those little gorilla pods on a park bench. I used my light (read unstable) travel tripod for some shots too.
