Like many of us across Australia, I was up in the freezing cold (9 dg - this is the tropics though) and down to a beautiful possy by a mangrove creek.
A stunning eclipse, with the phase from partial to totality going so quickly. I had set up a couple of cameras, but ended up just using the Canon.
Loved the way the Milky Way popped out with dark lanes surrounded the eclipsed Moon. Didnt spot/look for M31 like jjj and friends. ;)
Only company I had was a lonesome dingo, which I kept looking around for ... woman mauled by dingo ... yikes.
Got home, then the local North Qld radio station rang for a chat. I had the tranny going down at my spot, and Michael (DJ) was playimng all Moon songs. :D
A wonderful morning, wich there were more of them!!!
All pics widefield, not clever enough for close ups.
Totality images were ISO 1600, f 3.5.15mm mainly, and pushed the time to as long as I could, up to 40 sec. Also ... 1 Venus pic thrown in for good measure.:D

Hi Liz,

Lovely picture of the Milky Way and the meteor! I also saw one from here in Adelaide, travelling in a similar direction. Maybe sporadics, but maybe also a weak shower?

Thanks Trev, Ivan, Marc and Derek. :)

A couple more - the spot where I pitched my gear, and a 3 stacked image thru DSS - not very good at that stuff tough, but come out better than I thought, though still dodgy.

Was that Saunders Ck, Liz??. I'd have taken a line and tossed it in as well. Good bream and flathead there. Might also catch a barra or two!!!. Would've made a nice breaky:):)

Ha, exactly Carl, I could hear fish jumping everywhere, which disguised the sound of the digo lurking in the background. :help:

Ta jjj, yes, very happy with that one.
Took 3 images of that scene, but never have any luck with DSS, thought it may have improved it a bit. Hmm .. perhaps I will try again. Alas always forget darks, lights, flats etc.

Lovelly Liz! Like the "ghost" and the widefield with the Milky Way. And I see old mate is still doing the weather there in QLD. When I lived in Biloela he was there everynight doing the weather and that was many years ago!

Cheers,
Darrin...
