I've just purchased an Orion illuminated reticle for alignment purposes. It works well, but I had a little drama with the LED light.
The first thing I wanted to check after turning the dial was how to change the battery so I twisted a joint and found myself staring at the bare LED. Hmm. Wrong bit. So then I unscrewed the bit at the end and found myself looking at the switch mechanism and a length of wire which had just twisted off. Oops.
So after unscrewing the middle section and finding the batteries I soldered the connection back together and got the torch working again, only the switch assembly now comes loose when I turn on the LED. I'm thinking of putting a spot of Loctite in the thread to keep it from unscrewing.
So if you get an illuminated reticle, best check how to change the batteries before actually trying it.
