Quick Leo Triplet

This image of Leo Triplet was taken tonight under some quite trying surcumstances but it's the best I can do with the data.

I am interested in what you think and will hold back posting the details for a while to see what you think.

This is the second image with my new TSA120 refractor

You've got some great detail within the galaxies Doug.

Nice one Doug,

JJJ is sharp, can see the vignetting on the thumbnail, but not too much on the pic, its there though, flats will knock that off and make it sing....

Details on the triplet are schmick....nice scope that one.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Now to let you in on why I didn't post any image details.
Last night was terrible. It started out looking OK but very quickly the sky filled with cloud. I ended up wit 1 X 10 minute Blue, 2 X 10 Red, 2 X 10 min Green and 1 X 10 minute Luminance.

I thought I would put them together just to see what it was going to look like and was very surprised at the result.

Thanks everyone. Looks like this scope is typical of the Tak scopes. I did get to do a star test and it was right on , at least to my eye. The scope looks like it will fill the whole in focal length I was after so yes, it looks like a keeper for sure. I do need some more data and with work it looks like my next chance will be with a lot of moon to contend with. It will be intersting to see how well it handles the moon.

Doug, it looks good for so little data. Maybe just as a suggestion try for longer subs in the luminence and blue. I have been doing 20 minutes in each for some time now and noticed the difference (not as much stretching needed either). All this really depends on the light pollution in your area though. I cannot remember if you have told me about light pollution before, so forgive me if I have forgotten.

Definitely a sharp scope and wondering if you did any slective sharpening at all or is this native? If not then you could well be onto a winner of a scope.

Thanks Paul, This is just a quick DDP and curved stretch to see what I could expect. I might add I was a little surprised at the capabilities of this scope. I don't have much of a problem with light polution but do have some problems with seeing around the mountains. This does cause some guiding issues but nothing that can't be worked around.
I am really getting a feel for this scope and camera combination and given some time and some clear skies the exposure time will extend out quite a bit.




Thanks Sadia, It is lovely to have a rig that just works without having to try and get things to fit. I already have quite a bit of Tak adapters etc which all fit this scope, focuser etc. It's great to just screw things together without having to make new bits.
Next will be a good quality OAG unit and I am done for a while.
