Just for you H....STS-134 liftoff.

Now, I know some people like HDR and some people don't like it *Hint*.:D
However, I came across a nice little bit this morning.

NASA released a HDR of STS-134 lifting off.
To capture such an event, it was met with 6 cameras all clicking at the same time, at different exposures. Then melded them all together.

Now H, are you happy with this one? ;)

Hey Brett,

Have you seen the video that goes into detail about those cameras? It's all done in hardware -- the result being the video image looks natural.

It's 45 minutes long, but, pretty mind blowing. :)

I still think that the image you posted doesn't look natural. Ugly halos and so on.

Of course, these guys aren't doing HDR for "fun". They're using this exposure blending methodology to try and see what happens within the plume at lift off.

Pure Awesomeness wreaks there. I am just so glad I got to see one on the pad and launch.



Plume reacts differently than what I expected. Slow moving outsides and fast moving insides. Would have thought that the outsides would of had a faster momentum.

Thanks for re-posting that link H! I was just actually thinking about that link- and where to find it- whilst I'm mucking around with HDR ( yes I know your thoughts :) ).. Just am amazed at the rate at which the exposure is compensated to give a clear view of the exhaust and keep the sky in the background blue!
