Ok so i am a little stupid i think... Just went and purchased my QHY8L ccd, despite the fact i know nothing about CCD imaging, have yet to receive my light box, have a mount that is comparable to a drunken sailor and there seems to be a permanent cloud belt over my house ... Discuss ... :eyepop:

Only thing wrong with all of that is you live in Brisbane too, so you've just condemned us to clouds for the next week. :D

Congrats on a great camera :)

I recently took the same plunge, the rain hasn't stopped in 4 days:rain:http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/../vbiis/images/smilies/blackcloud.gif
Grabbed a Milburn wedge as well...now just to get to use them!

Did manage to get first light with the CCD last week, very quick and dirty shot, no guide, wedge, flats etc and only a dozen or so couple sec frames. Not even any colour as I still don't know the settings yet. Can't wait to have a real play.

Hi Grady,

I did something similar. Bought a QHY8L about 6 months ago with little idea of what to do! However, it's amazing how quickly you learn.
It's a very good camera and you will be producing great shots in no time.

Ross.
