I imaged Saturn on May 29 at 5:23 UT with a T2i DSLR camera, a C8 SCT, and a 2x barlow. I processed my 5 minute video file through Registax 5.1 where 3833 frames of 7595 frames were stacked. The effective focal length of the DSLR, C8, and 2x barlow was 4291 mm. The focal ratio was F/21. I used a larger stack size than in my previous Saturn image which appears to have reduced some of the noise in the image representation of Saturn's atmosphere.

Hi Peter,

The Canon definitely brings out the colours. What ISO and exposure are you using?

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks Tom, yes I like using the Canon a lot; I have an Imaging Source DBK21AU04 webcam but I find myself using the DSLR almost exclusively these days because the software seems more user friendly to me. I like being able to electronically zoom from a wide field where Saturn is a tiny circle on on the LiveScreen to narrow field where I do my imaging; that makes life a lot easier if Saturn ever slips off the LiveView Screen at the narrow angle setting. I selected ISO 3200 and an exposure of 1/25 second.

I hope to see more of your work! Saturn should be within imaging range for at least another month.

Peter
