Centred on the interesting core area. Cropped to 800x600.

Practicing. Waiting for the moon to fade. Criticism welcome.

Canon 350D shot at prime focus of a Meade LXD-75 SN-8.

This is a single 90 second exposure, ASA1600, with noise reduction On.

You can view a much larger version here (only 170Kb). (http://www.zodiaclight.com/images/EtaCarinasCoreByMoonLight09Feb06Fil teredPoster.jpg)

Hi Houghy,

As you can see, in the end, I didn't buy an *IST (I coudn't get past the hurdle of the brand name :) ). I'm glad I bought the 350D. I'm very happy with this camera.

That's really nice Bill.
Was there any processing done on it apart from in Camera Noise Reduction?
Did you shoot in RAW or jpg?

They're great cameras aren't they?

The image was Canon RAW exported (non-linear) to .TIFF via Canon's Zoom Browser (which is a really nice tool by the way). Loaded to Imageready for processing, which was limited to a histogram/color balance then a noise filter and +2 unsharp mask in Noiseware, and then back into ImageReady for a final small touch at the histogram.

Good work there.
Im dying to see how the 350D noise reduction goes on longer (10 min) ISO 1600 shots, I predict quite well as even with no noise reduction my 300D isnt too bad apart from the amp glow.
