Try deleting a few from inbox/outbox and see if the PM count fixes itself.

I have the same problem but the 65534 messages come back each time i post a new message.

have 66527+ unread messages.
Well ok, not really. They're cached as that ridiculous amount.

If you mark a private message as unread and then as read, it should rebuild the count to the real value.
I'll have a look to see why it's happend with some of you guys and not with anyone else.

In my case it happened after viewing an old pm written by a person who is no longer is a member here.

It looks to be a forum bug. Bear with me.
In the meantime, if it happens, just mark a message read/unread and that should rebuild the correct count to something less annoying than 65535 unread messages.

OK. I worked out what's happening. Fixed a bug in the vbulletin code.
The problem should be fixed now.
Let me know if it happens again.
