At least you have a balanced dream
a)BV not a chance except if you win lotto
b)EQ8 possible
mine are generally totally unrealistic

The video is great, but doesnt show much.....
Has anybody contacted Synta/Skywatcher/GSO etc on the progress?
Surely someone has a bit of pull?:shrug:

BTW;
All are bits of equipment, assuming 'blonde' is a beer......:thumbsup:( Beer can be used as a piece of equipment - if it is used as a tool for filing in time between long exposures;)

Trev, you've forgotten three things...
mansion
superyacht
private jet
:):)
3rd hand information but someone on another forum emailed skywatcher and a rep came back and said "it should be out later this year" which means there is a possibility that it won't be out this year.

Heyyyy, it's Nick!
Nice looking mount. I wonder how much it weighs? Too much for a frail like me I suppose.

So could you ( Andrew?) contact this person on the 'other forum' and find out the name of this rep that he/she contacted. Then contact them and tell them IIS demands ;)an answer........That last comment is good humor/ in jest......:lol:
However there are potential buyers here on IIS.....
If you have some association ( ie clout) with SW, let them know I ( cause I cant speak for the majority) am eager to know the progress of EQ8......

While you are waiting for the EQ8 maybe you could wait for this mount as well. The mount is covered about two minutes into the vid. Looks like a good original design.

If the TDM is as good as they say it is, then it's worth every penny you'd spend on it.

I emailed Andrews a couple of months ago with this same question.
When will the eq8 be available?
Answer: Next year!

These are my photos from the same show. Sure they called it an EQ7 when I was there.

Just a requote of a previous post re: EQ7 at that time and that's when the information about the EQ8 was given
I'll try to call them again next week and see if I can get any more feedback - the last time I was told to call Tasco for information if I wanted to know more!!

I quite like the altitude adjustment arrangement on that mount. Reminds me of a car jack.

I'm pretty sure the EQ8 is just a further development of the EQ7, but with a namechange. 8 is a lucky number for some asian cultures.

I just wish the EQ8 would come out so that one of you lot would sell me your EQ6 cheap :)
The TDM sounds great, simple idea but tricky to manufacture that accurately I guess. A lot of dollars though :(

Looks like the EQ8 anyway.
Good move getting the ieq45 considering the EQ8 might be years away . . . if it ever comes :rolleyes:

Ioptron is a Chinese company, this mount looks very similar to the EQ7 yet the price seems over the top when you consider they are selling the Iq45 mount for under $2k US
