Some climate modelling done by climate scientist at CNRS (the French national academy of sciences) points to the possibility that Gliese 581d might be a habitable world. Mind you, not necessarily all that great for us.

Interesting, thanks Carl

Pity we'll never get close enough to see it properly, let alone spend 300,000 years traveling to there.

But the possibilities of detecting habitable worlds is getting better.

You never know where we'll be in 50, let alone 100 years, Ken. Wasn't all that long ago they thought spaceflight was impossible.

Yes Carl, I believe our descendants will go venturing off to new worlds, but not in OUR time
(depending on how old the reader is)

Maybe, maybe not...depends on how long you might live for. In 50 years I'll only be 95 and hopefully well enough to appreciate science in that day and age :)

That's a long time to wait for an appreciation for Science ! :P :)

and at 95 with Alziemers you'll say "what's a Planet sonny?"
I'll be well over 100

But someone may surprise and and discover/use near-light travel in the next 5-10 years.
Wouldn't that be grand :)

I hope if I get to that age, I don't have Alzheimer's:)

You never know...what might be going on at Area 51, we just don't know:)
