Well i've had some time this weekend to do some processing of my first ever shots of saturn from last weekend

scope used was a skywatcher 8inch dob untracked with a 900nc web cam, no ir/uv cut filter so i've had a tough time getting colors right.

and damn i really need a eq mount doing this all untracked sucks! your trying to focus adjust settings record and guide all at once results in minimum amount of frames so in bad seeing it's tough gig! LOOL

all feedback good or bad welcome exciting to actually get a result!

Yes well done, especially untracked.

Iam like you Sean, although I have the telescope just wainting on the mount to arrive.

Its good to see these images as it shows beginners like me that it is possible to get good results and keeps us enthused while we wait too.

Keep 'em coming

John

Nice shots mate. Yeah, most recommend a DOB as a first scope, but if there is ANY inclination towards atrophotography, well an EQ is the way to go first up otherwise they'll be in your exact circumstance you find yourself in right now..;)

Image 3 looks much sharper. What imaging software/stacking are you using?

Nice shots there.

Thanks all,

Yeah i've just purchased a eq6 mount off a forum member here so hopefully it will be here in the next few weeks!

i don't know how anyone has the patience to use a dob for planetary imaging lol!

3 might be sharper it could be due to better seeing or better focusing ? it's hard to tell as it was a mission to try and get focus while keeping objects centred =o)

i'm using 2x barlow on a f/6 newt , philips vlounge to do the capture then registax6 to stack/align process.

whats everyone else using? or recommend?
