Hi all,

Here's a collage of some common Deep Sky Objects and the Moon. All were taken using my Canon EOS 550D at prime focus of a 12" Goto Dobsonian and all are at the same scale.

I thought it might be interesting to see just how large these objects appear when compared to the Moon.

Clockwise from top left:
Centaurus A galaxy, Keyhole Nebula in Carina, M22 globular cluster, Orion Nebula, Lagoon Nebula, Trifid Nebula, Omega Centauri globular cluster.

Exposures ranged from 1/500sec to 10 seconds.

Thanks for looking,

Tom

Thanks Marc,

As I began to learn about astronomy I found that it was difficult to picture just how large these object appear to us in the sky. Something like this puts things more into perspective.

I did a similar comparions with Solar System objects here: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=74794

Very nice Collage Tom. Maybe spend a little more time to get all the background levels the same and it would make a lovely large poster.
