Hello,

Last night, with wispy clouds coming in from the SE, I thought that I would try to capture a few images of the Moon. I used the Mewlon 180 with the Tak x1.6 extender although this proved too much for the wobbly atmosphere, so this image is a little “grainy” and slightly over processed due to the sub-optimal seeing conditions.

The area covers some big names like Aristillus, Autolycus, Archimedes, the Apennine Mountains and Eratosthenes. It also shows Rima Hadley, which was the landing site of Apollo 15 in July 1971.

Thanks for looking.:)

Cheers

Dennis

Very impressive Dennis. I recently read a couple of books about the Apollo missions. The descriptions of the landing approaches for some of the later Apollo missions were incredible. They aimed for specific geological targets which meant flying down through the mountains.

Incredible details Dennis. I'm always amazed how much details you guys get out of your moon shots. Very different kind of processing.

Hey, excellent picture! Just shows you don't need a classic terminator view to get some fantastic surface details. Lovely image. Thanks for posting.
Cheers,
Brian.
