Hi All,

Been quite a while since posting here - just getting the new gear tested and aligned. Finally I feel its all working as expected!

This shot was a 3 x 20min Lum, 1 x 20min R,G,B shot under moonlight last night and as such is quite noisy in the color channels. Need to get back to this under a moonless night to polish it up. Scope was a Deepsky Instruments RC10C with a QHY9 (Astronomik Filters installed)

Here is a larger version (1.1meg) (http://astro-photo.net/NGC5128_RC10_IIS_large.jpg)

Feedback is encouraged :)

Grahame.

That's a little dark from what we usually see but I agree with the others. It's a top shop. Colours and details are very good indeed.

Thanks all, I am using a new LCD LED monitor for processing and was wondering how it would look the other end. Will be sure to brighten the shots that extra bit now.

Would be great to be able to do this from a dark sky site, trying to replicate Marcus's cracker of a recent shot :D

Very very nice :)

I like a dark background myself, it's really a matter of taste but as long as you don't clip the black end it really looks great. Gives the pic a "glossy" look :)

Excellent detail in the dust lane and the OB associations in the lane show up nicely...faint hint of blue.

Agree with the black background Carl - cant wait for some moonless nights to finish off the color data side of things, although I prob wont go 20min subs this time round.

I always look at these shots with a certain amount of amazement.
The tracking is so accurate, it has the appearance of something that could be only a matter of metres away - the detail is amazing and the focus as good as it gets.

The soft colour gives it a better depth so your new LED screen is not doing you down.

Thank you for showing us the image. I'm sure that most of us are a touch jealous of your ability

Yes, Grahame this is a fabulous shot, lovely processing and some nice fine details revealed! I love the stars, they look like those seen in images from pro observatories in the past. Maybe you could lift the vibrancy of the colorus a tad but only a suggestion...

Top shot, that telescope looks to be a keeper

Great! A little more dark than usual, but that makes the pic special. Like it very much. Colors, details and contrast are awesome.

Very nice Grahame considering the short overall exposure you have to expect some noise in a single frame.

Will look great with some extended exposure.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts (mike especially!) I have done a quick curves on the old monitor, which i think i had a good "feel" for.

comparison for everyone:
Shot one old monitor processed
Shot two new monitor processed
Shot three, both the monitors showing the same jpeg (contrast adjusted one)

Link to new adjusted shot (http://astro-photo.net/NGC5128_RC10_IIS_large_contrast.jpg )

note that I have set them both to sRGB color space and not changed anything else.

Cheers Paul, might take a few images to get a handle on this monitor, but I had to start somewhere :)
