Well got up WAY early, took my entire set-up (less the SCT) to Mt Coot-tha and try to capture the 3 planets in the same field. Carried all the gear to my location. The weather was officially "fresh" with the gentle westerly breeze blowing. Commenced setting up and realised that I left my handset at home. Strike One.

Once again the NEQ6 was a very heavy and expensive tripod, as I was reduced to wide-field images. I was happily snapping away all morning with Focus assist and noticed that there was a message in the status bar after my last photo saying "Path not found". Did this mean...? Yes, no images were saved on to the hard drive and the setting was for nothing to be saved to the CF card.
Strike Two.

Early in the piece I took a few shots without the computer and I managed to capture an over exposed shot and, glory be, one shot of all the planets above the city... in focus!
Stealing Home. :)

I have 2 other shots on the 450D when the first three planets were rising which I will post at some time, but not just yet.

Did I also mention that the ISS passed through the field at about 05:53?

Another one that got away.

Here is the shot from just before 05:00, and one of the sunrise over the CBD.

Sounds like a bit of bad luck there Tony! That first image came out nicely though.

I might try again from Mt C on Sunday.

Cheers,
Stephen

Sorry to hear of your tail of misfortune Tony,I set my gear up early this morning, and notice the space station was due to come over at 5.02 am,so I did get an image of it.The magnitude was -2.8,it certainly was good to see it by eye as it was so bright!.

Good to see you got some nice city views.Cheers Chris
