Hello,

Here is my effort from our back yard this morning, 12th May. As you can see, the planets were just clearing the swaying palm trees as dawn was fast approaching.

As I was focusing using Remote Live View on the PC, I saw a flock of silhouetted Lorikeets flying through the frame, much too fast to be recorded with a 1 sec exposure.:)

Thanks for looking!

Cheers

Dennis

Wow, I've been looking forward to these shots but wasn't expecting to see the Galilean moons.

Brilliant Dennis. Pretty much the shot I wanted to do (obviously without the same skill as yourself) but due to forgetting the handset for the scope I was foiled before I even started.

Great capture.

Thank you to everyone for your nice words – their warmth helped thaw my cold bones from a chilly Brisbane morning. :)

I had the camera mounted on top of the telescope in our back garden and was very concerned about the conjunction clearing the tree line. I had planned to stack a few shots to improve the image quality but the strong, gusty SW winds kept blowing the palm fronds into random patterns, so no two frames would line up in the stack!

I never did get to see Mars, as by the time it had cleared the trees, the skies were too bright.:(

Cheers

Dennis

PS – I have uploaded an image without the clutter of the text to show the “naked” view
