Typical Melborune seeing conditions (3/10) but managed to get 650 frames to work with.

Like what everyone else has been doing I set the alarm for 5.00am to try Jupiter only to be greeted by high winds and the worst seeing I have come across even for Melbourne!

Nice shot John, doubly so for 3/10 seeing. :)

Trying to see if there's any evidence of the light spot storm that showed up on my last Saturn image. There's a slight bit of lightness on the lower limb here, but not sure if that's it. Might be on the other side.

Thats better than just a nice shot I reckon. I'd suggest it was slightly better than 3/10 seeing. This storm is present I reckon. If you lightened it up a bit there would be more chance of seeing it better.
Well done on a fine image.

thanks guys, re: the storm on Saturn, was wondering the same thing myself. Does anyone know what the longitude of the storm is so we can compare to the Central Meridian?

Hi John, maybe can work out the location of this storm (assuming it hasn't moved too much) by extrapolating from my last image attached below.

This was taken at 12.07UT on Feb 6th.

Saturn's rotational period is 10.233 hours (or so Google tells me).

Sooo tonight is the Feb 10th, if we look at a time that is an exact multiple of 10.233 hours from 12.07UT on Feb 6 we should see the storm in the same spot. Hmmm 9 rotational periods would put it around evening twighlight when the storm in the same locale and by 10 Saturn would be setting. Someone do the math for tomorrow night... my head hurts:P

There's some threads on CN discussing the CM of the storm. Wonder how long it will last.

it would be great for Saturn to have some disc features for a chance, like ol' joop.
