This page in my ever-expanding photography portfolio, marks my second conjunction. These are earlier ones for those interested:

Four's a Conjunction! (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=64538)
Streak: Until 2040 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=65005)

Photographed on the morning of 8th May, 2011, right on civil twilight.

The composition shows the planets in "alignment".

This conjunction (technically a massing) has the following constituents: Venus up the top, Jupiter below her, with Mars below him. Mercury sits to the right of Venus.

Keen-eyed observers will note subtle pink crepuscular rays to frame left and frame right.

I made this image from one of my favourite locations along Sydney's coastline.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
25s f/11.0 at 21.0mm iso400

Larger resolution image available here (http://users.tpg.com.au/octane2/cc.html).

Signed (24x16", or larger) fine art archival prints available. Email me, octane2 AT optusnet DOT com DOT au if you'd like to have this hanging on your wall.

Comments, critique, etc., most welcome.

A truly great image H, congratulations. It has everything, the conjunction, the colours, the texture of the sand, and a hint of mystery to top it off. I like it very much.

Maaaaaate. Beeeautiful. From foreground, to background, to far far background, it's got interest all over the place. Well done. Gotta be the pick of your 3 conjunction shots.

Jeanette,

Thanks, so much.

Bart,

Titles are something I put a little bit of thought into. It's part of the process, and, this one just screamed out at me.

Of course you can do better! Just need to get out and take photos at that magical time of day where everything resembles paintings.

Thanks, mate.

Marc,

Thank you for your kind words!

Rolf,

Thanks, sir! I initially wanted to shoot this at f/16, but, 50 seconds would have been far too long to expose for, so dropped back to f/11, double-checked my focus (depth-of-field preview) and went for gold.

Mike,

Glad you like it. :)

Cheers!

Marc,

Appreciate that -- thanks! And, awesome, I never noticed the inverted tree before you mentioned it. :D

Chris,

Thanks, mate! You should have set up there, too. :D

Matt,

Thanks, sir!

Troy,

Thanks, heaps, matey. Yeah, it easily trumps the other two previous attempts. The next one will be even better than this... maybe!

Thank you to those who commented. I sometimes wonder if the audience here is easy to please or hard to please. I have been going through a rough patch in the last few months, and reading your kind words instills some confidence and hope in me. Nonetheless, I will continue to put my heart and soul into every image I make.
