Visited one of our local swamps the other day. Water certainly makes a difference. I also learned how to use a contrast mask in GIMP. I am very happy with the result.
Here is a picture of Bell's Swamp at its best and a few residents.

A nice few images Paddy, the Swifts look good.
Great images Paddy.
Love the 1st - so beautiful and serene, then the 2nd - I was so busy looking at the signpost names and distances (am a central Victorian) ... then I noticed the gorg little birds - excellent!!

Thanks for posting Pat,
For distant members the intersection has been flooded (and closed) since Janurary and local knowledge says that it will remain so through winter with even the slightest rain. It is providing a great place to see some of our many water birds, frogs, snakes and some truly breathtaking sunsets.
Greg.
Hey Paddy i didnt realise you were that close to me

Thanks everyone.
It is such a beautiful place a the moment, Greg. Stayed there for quite a while and plan to go back. I have a friend who has access to some other more remote swamps on the Mooloort plains and I'm hoping to go on a trip with him and learn how to really get close to birds.

PS
Bell's swamp is about 30 minutes north of us Jen. Still a fair hop to Swan Hill. but you probably go quite close to our place on your way to Snake Valley.
