Hi all

The same morning of capturing the Moon and Planets Conjunction (http://www.mikesalway.com.au/2011/05/03/moon-and-planets-conjunction-1st-may-2011/) at Avoca, after the dawn light left and the sunrise came, the sky and some local surfers put on a fantastic show, allowing me to capture these seascape images.

They're some of my best photography of recent times - at least, I think so :) I'm proud of them, anyway.

Larger images and a few more images here:

Canon 40D + 24-105mm lens.

Thanks for looking - feedback welcome.

Thanks so much for your feedback, guys. I really appreciate it.

And H, you're far too kind - your landscapes continue to inspire me.

I do like having people in mine though :)

I printed a few off at home this morning on the home printer, a regular Canon Pixma MP640, on A4 Glossy Photo paper. They look amazing - much better than I had hoped.

Really, really happy with them.

The prints look remarkable, Mike.

Imagine them blown up to 24x16" (or, bigger). ;)

Very nice Mike,

I especially love the metallic feel given to the rocks conveyed by the cloud colours in the first one, it looks like beaten copper, good enough for the cover of a book about surfing....

Cheers

Bleeding awesome Mike, very impressive. How do you plan for such a brilliant scene, did you know it would look like that in advance somehow (weather forcast) , or was it good luck on the day?.

Mike your images are very nice indeed, but i have to ask, do you and some of the others enhance the images with particular program's.

IMHO, only, the scenes appear unnatural, are they the original untouched pictures that you took, or have they been processed somehow.

Just asking, not to upset. :)

Leon

Hi Leon

Certainly, they are post-processed in Lightroom and/or Photoshop.

Selective contrast and saturation/vibrance enhancements mainly. Sometimes adjust the white balance, convert to black and white, etc.

Thanks Fred.
Just luck. There's no way to really plan for it. Sometimes the clouds are too low that they don't get the beautiful sun glow off them.

Sometimes there's no clouds and you don't get any action in the sky at all.

The waves and sea were very rough on this day too, so it helped with capturing the crashing waves and bringing the surfers out ;)
