I normally run any astro-gear off the mains with appropriate adapters.
However, I plan to go down the black money-pit of A-P next spring and we are prone to frequent 5-15 minute blackouts here, which would be bad I think.
Is it possible to use an un-interuptable power suppy (like those on computers) with a Synta EQ6?
Or would it be more cost effective to simply use a deep-cycle battery?

I think would will find a battery and charger system more reliable and cheaper. Those computer no break system do not last very long. I have had two of them and as they had not needed to hold a system up for a few years when the power failure did come they failed (probably just old age). The cheaper type in any case are designed to keep the system up long enough so that you can shut the system down without a crash.

get a trickle charger and hook that up to the deep cycle, then run the mount from the battery - if the power fails than it will still be on a battery and work - my planned setup for astrofest

I didn't want to be restricted by mains access.I have 2 x 100ah batteries with 4 x 20w solar panels.Without recharging I can run my 3 scopes for 4 to 5 days (nights). If I hook up the solar panels & recharge during each day I have indefinate power supply. When I'm away I run 3 scopes with 4 heater systems An 80L 12v fridge 2 x lappys. All from the batteries with no power issues.

Lordy!
That's thinking ahead.

Thanks for the tips. Fortunately, I have no shortage of truck batteries for some reason and my wife's just bought a really posh trickle charger.
