read here:

Hello all,

The Central West Astronomical Society is proud to announce that the submissions for the 2011 CWAS ³David Malin Awards² are now open.

The deadline for entry submissions is mid-night on Friday, 24 June 2011.

Entry fees are $15 per entry to help cover the costs of the printing, mounting and framing of the winning images for the two exhibitions.

The theme for this year's Open Themed Section is "Australia Beneath the Stars". The intention is to encourage people with vision and imagination, using simple equipment, such as a tripod and ordinary camera, to make attractive images that evoke the emotion and experience of the Australian night sky.

For entry submissions and more information see:
http://www.parkes.atnf.csiro.au/news_events/astrofest/DMA/

The 2011 CWAS "David Malin Awards" are proudly supported by CSIRO's Astronomy and Space Sciences, The Powerhouse Museum and Canon Australia.

Thanks Houghy, might have to see what I can come up with on my travels, however dose one have to be present when the judging is done, and/or be present when the presentations are given out

This year I expect we'll see a real shake-up of the status quo, as there are now a good number a very sophistcalted imaging rigs producing some truly wonderful imagery from Oz.

Many have been keeping a pretty low profile, yet have produced some stunning images seen here and elsewhere. Interesting times!
