Hi All, well I had to have one more go. Mars at a massive 8 arc seconds is a challenging target, but Asi put the challenge out there with his recent post and of course I'm honour bound to reply ;)

4x powermate, stacked just under 1000 of 1800 frames, 10fps, 1/10sec exposure, seeing was woeful and peaked at 4/10 for this avi. Still a bit of detail and I think I can see the south polar cap (at top here) starting to re-emerge as Mars starts to cool again....hmmm maybe imagination?

Actually did the Tri-fecta last night, got a decent Saturn and this morning under almost daylight snatched a bit of Jupiter. Tried a range of exposure and have some good detail on the Joop, but for some reason I have onion ringing down one side - perhaps an effect of shooting in blue sky? - will post later.

cheers,

You...you...you..Mars animal! That image is outrageously good, Robert, for a measly 8 arc seconds.

Cheers

in my comparison one the other day, the after 6am shots were fine for the raw mode, but 90nc or std toucam mode, the onionr ringing was very much evident!!!
