Jupiter processing help?

Hi guys, i have sorted out my best avi, wavelets and lr deconvolution combo

My laptop show the section near the middle white band as being "burnt out" a tad. How do i reduce that, contrast??? gamma?

DP this can happen if you have the histo-stretch turned on when you stack in registax. You should probably make sure that's not turned on.

And when you start applying wavelets, if the image starts to burn out in the middle then just open the brightness/contrast controls and back the brightness off to -10 or -20 and that ought to fix it.

I think the problem is that the brightness can easily get clipped, because histo-stretching changes your image so that the brightest pixel is 255, but when you apply wavelets then some pixels get *brighter* still, and these have nowhere to go.,

ok, thanks bird, i have been using that due to astral image automatically doing a histo stretch anyway, so i thought i would get it out of the way earlier in the processing, but i will uncheck that option

Bird, As Dave says, if when you "convert to greyscale" it does a histostrech, how do you get around it?

Mike, I don't know how to get around it, but it's not really too bad - it's not really changing the image data, just the way it's presented.

here is a resampled 1.5 mitchell version, pretty heavy wavelets, but no deconvolution, just some unsharp masking and a median 3x3

yeh, i agree, but i have lost my slight burnt out look, i will try a smaller resample to see if that helps.

The only thing to look into with the larger one is a bit more de-noising, maybe with neat image? Otherwise I think it looks great!

I'd like to offer some useful advice, but I'm still marvelling at the beauty of Jupiter as you've captured it - The burn out if it exists is really very slight and I prefere the colouration and impact of your original. It really is VERY good. :)

If this is 8/10 I'm just hoping with a break with cloud, rain and seeing gives me a chance to get a 7 befoer the seasons out ;)

That slight burn out doesn't take away from the image for me mate....WELL DONE!

I had a go at the slightly resampled one dave... a bit of unsharp, egde preserving smooth and brightnes/contrast....

I dont know if its better or not :nerd:

I tried to keep detail and bring more out while smoothing the whole lot out :)

it can actually still be enlarged some with out looking too too bad

yes the detail stands up well, did you want the video and bmps to play with?
