10mm Pentax XW. Easily, my most used eyepiece. followed by the 7mm Pentax XW which is just as good quality wise.

I have 2 favourites,

The 27mm Panoptic is a fantastic. When used in conjunction with my 120mm f8.3 refractor it's a beaut. Pin sharp images, wide field and comftable eye relief conspire to make any viewing experience a great one.

The other favourite is my 16mm Meade series 3000 Plossl. It is the most commonly used e/p on all my 'scopes. Things just look good through my beloved 16mm even though there are better and more glamorous eyepieces available.

My favourites are:

13mm T6 Nagler, 31mm T5 Nagler, 19mm Panoptic and the 8mm Radian. They all serve their own purpose and I can't really pick an absolute favourite - though the 19mm Pan is a sweet spot at 100x

I love them all! (all the ones I use anyways, except the Superview :P) Hard to pick a fave because I always swap them around a lot until I find the sweet one. I use the 19mm Panoptic and/or 13mm Stratus for initial overview of the target and for general gazing at sizable DSOs. But then the detective work is always done with orthos and plossls. If I was only allowed to have one (plus my barlow), it would be the 19mm Pan.

Favourites:

Pentax xl, 14mm , 10.5mm (both no longer made)
27mm panoptic ,

g'day :)

gee... well my most used ones are my celestron ultima 7.5 and (believe it or not) GSO SV 15mm. generally scan around withe the 15mm and bung in the 7.5 for "closeups".

i like my 10.5 TV plossl too for something inbetween or when the seeing isnt up to 7.5

i need a good long FL EP. i am thinking 32mm TV plossl or 30mm celestron ultima.

30mm GSO superview just for cruising.

9.7mm Meade 4000 for details on most objects.

My 19mm Pan is easily my fav, followed by my 9mm UO HD(planetary filtered) Ortho combined with my UO 2" barlow.

Since becoming an obsessive web-cammer at the expense of visual, my most used eyepiece is a cheap parfocalised sirius optics 25mm plossl. My favorite image lense thingy is my 4x Powermate... it's magic.

Ok if I had to make an eyepiece call, it'd be my 12.5mm Takahashi LE, beautiful contrast and colour on doubles and gives me a good all round just under 200x in my scopes for planetary viewing.

cheers,

If is says Pentax on the side - its all good =-)

Seriously, I've had the 10mm and 14mm for a year now and last weekend I took delivery on a 7mm and 20mm. The 20 is a step behind the other 3, but still friggen great.

Now if I could just get my hands on a 30mm to "test drive" one before shelling out US$500...

Jim,

I also have the 7mm,10mm,14mm and 20mm Pentax XW's. The 14mm is a small step behind the 7 and 10 and the 20 is a small step behind the 14. Despite a little field curvature, I still like the 14mm and 20mm because they are extremely sharp on axis with excellent contrast and very high light transmission. Out of 10 I rate them as follows:-

7mm=9.8/10
10mm=9.8/10
14mm=9.5/10
20mm=9/10

25mm series 500, cos in a 5x powermate, it resembles a 5mm vixen lv, 80% resembles anyway!

My favourite EP (limited to my collection) is the 22 Panoptic. It gives beautiful sharp contrasty views across the FOV, and at a nice magification size in my f/10 scope for all manner of objects.

My favourite EP (owned by someone else) is Wavelandscott's 16mm Nagler T5. 47 Tuc is beautifully framed in that EP!

My Fav, of all the Eps' I have owned was the 35 mm and 22 mm Panoptic.

Now I have UO Otho's ( again) and would say the 18 mm is very nice indeed.
As sharp as any Ep I have looked through. :)

You need to pick up a 5mm and a 30mm next and tell us what you think :nerd:

I don't see quite as big of a difference between the 10mm and the 14mm as you and Rob do - I do see some, but its a matter of splitting hairs :P
I see the 20mm on the other hand pretty much exactly like you rate it.

Thanks again for your help!

My favorite (and most used) is my 2" 40mm Orion Optiluxe ep. I love the wide field views in this puppy. Close second place would be my 7mm Nagler.

For the moment my 12.5 Orion Highlight stand out but I hope that'll change soon (got myself a 13mm Hyperion on the way :) ).
