Saturn April 23rd

Hi All,

Was pretty busy over Easter with my family, playing in a Lawn Bowls carnival but did get some data in fair seeing April 23rd.

Have some nice storm detail along with a faint plume in the SEB as well as some nice spoke like structure in the morning ansae of the "B" ring.

Have 3 RGB & 807nm IR data sets along with animations of both data sets, the spokes come up quite nicely in the animations.

Thanks very much Lester, my 16 yr old son, who is a very good bowler, normally plays with his mum in the open pairs but very unfortunately broke his ankle playing football at school so I got to partner my wife and we took out the Easter pairs. My son also missed out on this years S.A. under 18 Championships in Adelaide due to his ankle.
He came along with us on Saturday to support mum & dad but he was very disappointed in not being able to play.

Your still picking up good detail and great to see the ansae dust. The big dark patches around storm are becoming apparent especially in IR.

A fantastic resolution.
Of course a 16 ", gathering light, lethal details resolved.
I love the pictures with ottenunte IR_pass 807.
I have to try this filter on Saturn with the C14, and the new camera shooting Basler Ace acA1300-30gm.
With high sensitivity of the room should compensate centimeters less than your 16 ".
I have to 685nm with IR_pass by F15, at 21fps.
According to my calculations, I should be among 12/15fps with Ir_pass by 807.
Really congratulations, fantastic images in detail and elaboration.

Thanks very much Angelo, I have the PGR Flea3 and run my 807nm IR filter at 11 fps for 180 sec's at max gain & F 23.7.

Thanks Asi, have been hoping some good seeing was coming your way to unleash the 14. Have been doing quite a bit of fiddling myself also, reckon its just a continuing process trying to improve things.

It's not through lack of trying Trevor, I assure you. I did have a 14" run two nights ago, but the seeing was ranging from a big fat zero to a whole 2.5/10 lol.

I've ironed quite a few bugs out & I AM READY! Are you hearing me weather gods and/or Murphy???:mad2:;):D

I love the way you can image the dim crepe ring. Its always a problem with me. Terrific series.

The R & D on my scope is a continuous process and I know that you feel the same way about your 14" project. There is always room for improvement be it with the mount, optics, imaging train or processing. Just imagine how well sorted the 14 will be 12 mths down the track as Saturn heads further our way with the rings opening more each year.



Thanks Dave, I think we all have the "C" ring at capture but heavy processing destroys it. With not so great data, when trying to eek out detail with heavier applications of wavelets and particularly curves & levels, while enhancing the contrast, the "C" ring gets ever darker and in the worst case scenario it goes black and is completely lost.
With good data there is no need to process as heavily, the better the data the lesser the processing. With far more delicate applications of sharpening and especially contrast enhancements with curves & levels, the "C" ring will remain.

Hi again Trevor. Actually, it's the seeing that has stopped me posting any 14" results. I have runs from 5 nights so far, but all in between zero and 3/10. However the information derived from the results (despite really crook seeing) has been extremely positive, & I predict great things to come with this 14".
